Scarlets lock Josh Helps has been handed a five-week ban following his red-card incident in the recently concluded Pro14 game against Edinburgh.
Helps was sent-off in the 61st minute during the game at Parc y Scarlets for a dangerous tackle on Edinburgh wing George Taylor.
He appeared before judicial officer John Carroll and was proved guilty of the charges. The 25-year-old was initially handed a 10-week ban that was reduced by half taking into account the guilty plea and other mitigating factors.
“We have spoken to Josh at length about the incident and he fully accepts he got his tackle technique wrong and the coaches are working with him on that,” said judicial officer John Carroll.
“We would also like to make it clear that after the match Josh went into the medical room to check on George and to apologise.
“We have also spoken to Edinburgh about putting Josh in touch with George once he recovers.”
Scarlets are positioned fourth in Conference B table with a solitary win from four games.
