Rugby Australia has confirmed that Charlotte Caslick has penned a new deal with the national women’s side and the sevens programme for another year.
Caslick made her debut with the Sevens side of Australia in 2013 and was named in the World Rugby’s team of the season in the 2014/15 season. She was nominated in the player of the season in 2015 and went on to win the gold medal during the Rio Olympics in 2016 and a silver medal during the 2018 Common Wealth Games.
“I’m really excited to be re-committing to the Australian Sevens program for what will be a massive 2021 with the Olympics in Tokyo,” she told the official website of Rugby Australia.
“This team has taken the challenges thrown at us in our stride and I am really proud of the way we have adapted and progressed with everything that happened this year.
“I am looking forward to continuing the hard work as work towards that Olympic goal.”
Australian Women’s Sevens head coach John Manenti lavished praise on Caslick.
“Charlotte is an outstanding athlete and is constantly pushing herself to be the best she can see that drives high standards across the squad.
“Her ability in attack and defence has made her one of the most dangerous players in World Rugby.
“We saw this year how world class Charlotte is across the codes and it is a credit to her the way she attacks every opportunity both on and off the field.
“We are really excited to have Charlotte committing to what will be a big 2021 with the Olympics ahead and making sure that we are peaking at the right time.”
