James Lowe and Billy Burns ruled out of game against Scotland

Ireland will miss the services of fly-half Billy Burns and winger James Lowe for the third place play-off in the Autumn Nations Cup game against Scotland following injuries.

Burns made his first start for Ireland against Georgia and contributed 15 points in their 23-10 win at Aviva Stadium and had to leave the field in the 46th minute with a groin injury.

Lowe is also recovering from a groin injury that kept him out of the game against Georgia.

Meanwhile, skipper Johnny Sexton and centre Robbie Henshaw are set to return for Ireland in the game on weekend after recovering from hamstring and groin injuries respectively that they both suffered during the tournament opener against Wales.

Will Connors, who suffered a head injury in the game against Georgia will undergo return to play protocols but Keith Earls, Conor Murray and Rob Herring are set to be available for the encounter.

Ireland finished the group stage second with two wins and a defeat from three matches.
