Sale Sharks have confirmed the signing of lock JP du Preez from Cheetahs on a two-year contract.
The 26-year-old will be available for selection at the completion of his quarantine period in the United Kingdom.
He started his professional rugby career with Golden Lions in 2015 and went on to make his Super Rugby debut for Lions in the same year. Du Preez made a switch to Cheetahs three years later and went on to make 26 appearances for them in Super Rugby and Pro14 combined.
“We were hit pretty hard with injuries in the second-row towards the back end of last season and with Lood de Jager and Josh Beaumont still out, it was imperative we found the right person to come in and ease the load in that area,” said Diamond to the official website of the club.
“JP comes from South Africa with great pedigree and is a huge lad with a good skillset so I’m really looking forward to seeing what he can do in the Gallagher Premiership.”
Sale Sharks are positioned fourth in the Gallagher Premiership table with a win and a defeat apiece in the two matches and will take on London Irish next on 6th December at Community Stadium.
