Ireland will be without their skipper Johnny Sexton and centre Robbie Henshaw for the second round of the Autumn Nations Cup game against England to be played at Twickenham Stadium.
Sexton left the field with a hamstring injury in the 29th minute and underwent a scan following the game. Henshaw sustained an abductor strain and played 70 minutes in the game against Wales which Andy Farrell’s men went on to win 32-9.
A statement released by the Irish Rugby Football Union confirmed that the duo will miss the game next Saturday.
“Johnny Sexton has had a scan on the hamstring that forced his removal from the game on Friday night and has been ruled out of this week’s fixture against England,” read the statement.
“Robbie Henshaw picked up an abductor strain and is also ruled out of this week’s game.”
Meanwhile, Billy Burns, who replaced Sexton in the game against Wales from the bench is also undergoing return to play protocols as part of a head injury assessment.
