Twickenham Stadium will set to have 2,000 spectators when it hosts England’s final Autumn Nations Cup fixture on 6th December.
The decision follows after government announcement that tier 2 located stadiums can have a maximum of 2,000 fans or 50% of capacity whichever is fewer once the national lockdown ends on 2nd December.
The Rugby Football Union has allocated 400 seats out of the 2000 to NHS workers with another 600 to be given to players’ families, local rugby clubs and sponsors while 1000 will be sold to the fans.
RFU chief executive Bill Sweeney is delighted with the news and is looking forward to welcome the spectators to the ground.
“We are delighted,” RFU chief executive Bill Sweeney said.
“This is an opportunity for us to operate a socially distanced event as a small step forward in our plans for the return of fans to stadia.
“The team will be thrilled to have fans supporting them in person.”
England currently are at the top of Group A with wins over Georgia and Ireland and will face Wales next on Saturday.
